This was a windless morning of soft transient light with haze in the atmosphere produced by a frontal system approaching slowly from the south-west. Whilst circumventing the shores of the ‘Hospital Lochan’ in grounds above Glencoe village with camera and tripod over my shoulder, my attention was suddenly drawn to the variety of autumn colours displayed by the trees opposite that contrasted with the sombre mountain of Beinn a’Bheithir looming in the background. The entire scene was also perfectly reflected in the still waters of the lochan.
