This is a wide angle panoramic image of the Everest and the entire length of the Khumbu Glacier from the summit of Kala Pattar. The image was captured in digital format using the Nikon D850 camera on my last visit to the region. It includes all the elements of interest that can be seen from this location. On the left, are the lower slopes of Pumori beyond which are the lesser peaks of Lingtrense, Khumbutse and the Lho La Pass. Across the Lho La Pass on the Tibetan side of the border is Changtse, the north peak of Everest.
Rising up from the Lho La Pass is the West Shoulder of Everest which leads in turn to the main peak of Everest itself. At this time of year, the jet stream winds have blown much of the lying snow off the South West Face of Everest, so the mountain has a dark and rocky appearance. Below and to the right of Everest is the South Col and, further right, just visible and capped with a patch of cloud is Lhotse. The final snowy spire is Nuptse, the west peak of Everest. To the far right and prominent are the peaks of Ama Dablam, Kangtaiga, Thamserku and Taweche.
