The striking twin peaks of Kossum Kangurru are seen here rising from valley of the Kossum Drangkha. This viewpoint is reached on the first day of the approach to Everest from Lukla. At this point in the trail there is a breach in the eastern wall of the Dudh Kosi Valley formed by the descending Kossum Drangkha river whose source is the glacier on the west side of this peak. This view is often hidden by afternoon cloud and missed by passing trekkers. Kossum Kangurru is a particularly challenging 'trekking peak' and its striking outline is quickly identified from other viewpoints throughout the Khumbu region of Nepal.
