Winter Snowdon

I have always loved this view of The Snowdon Horseshoe from the Royal Bridge at Capel Curig and across the lovely waters of the Llynnau Mymbyr, and there are times when I feel that I have almost taken up residence there!  Indeed, I will freely admit that this is probably my favourite image of all time.

I was living in Dumfries and Galloway at the time that this image was captured so I regarded myself to be most fortunate to find the mountains to be covered in such a wonderful coating of snow when I arrived here after my overnight journey of over 250 miles.

At first light I was not sure how things would develop as cloud still covered the major summits. However as the sun rose and the warm and light of the new day arrived the cloud slowly lifted to reveal this most wonderful scene of 'Winter Snowdon'. Once again working with the Fuji GX617 Panoramic camera with its 300mm lens, the composition once again was perfect with just enough room in the vertical plane to capture the last vestige of cloud as it lifted from Snowdon summit.
