Gyachung Kang is a fine mountain in the Khumbu region of the Mahalangur Himalaya and is a familiar sight to those who visit the northern extremities of the Gokyo Valley. It lies on the Nepal-Chinese border between Cho Oyu to the west and Everest to the east. Although of significant height at 7,962m (26,089 ft) it is far less well-known than even the lowest of the 8,000 metre peaks and is therefore rarely climbed.
