This is a beautiful and almost neglected location roadside west of the Sligachan Hotel with an axcellent view of the north-western aspect of the Black Cuillin. On this particular late September afternoon I had ventured out in hope rather than the expectation of achieving a pleasing image but upon arriving here I found the conditions to be just perfect. There was clear air, interesting cloud patterns, the first hints of autumn in the vegetation, and calm waters with only a hint of a breeze. The sun was just starting to fade, producing that gentle warm light of late afternoon. The image really speaks for itself. From the same location, without even moving the tripod I captured a second image of Marsco, a neighbouring peak of the Red Cuillin.
