The trapeziod shaped peak of Gyachung Kang neighbours Cho Oyu at the head of the Ngojumba Glacier in the Gokyo region of the Khumbu Himalaya. The two mountains are joined by a long ridge that forms the headwall of a great and open glacial basin that is often beautifully illuminated both at sunrise and sunset. This image was captured at sunset from the summit of Gokyo Peak and looking directly into this magnificent setting.
