Manaslu Sunrise

Sunrise on Manaslu from Samagaon

Dawn light illuminates the precipitous northern slopes of Manaslu, the seventh highest mountain in the world. This image was taken from a campsite outside the tiny village of Samagaon where I had camped overnight. At the time that I took it this was a controlled area and few visitors had ever been to this area. All expeditions required the attendance of a liaison officer appointed by the Nepalese Mountaineering Association.
