Capturing the Pictures for Mountain Images

We receive many enquiries about the pictures which are displayed and sold on the Mountain Images Website, and particular interest is shown in the choice of the location of the various viewpoints and in the work that was carried out planning and preparing for the shoots.

The following collection of notes written by Ian Evans provides some insight into the thinking that went into some of these pictures, the reasoning behind his choice of viewpoints, the timing of the shots and the conditions, and the obstacles and challenges that were necessarily overcome in the field on the day of the shoot.

Many walkers, climbers and photographers aspire to capture this image of the world's very highest mountains. Taken late in the day at over 5500 metres, it required patience, planning and a lot of good luck.
